As we move into the summer, we're taking a pause to reflect on all that Growing for Good has been up to this year. Spoiler alert- a lot! We sent out 82 contracts between 32 farms and 28 hunger relief organizations. This includes 12 new farmers and 5 new hunger relief organizations from 2025. It's exciting to watch the program grow and broaden our support across the region.

From conferences and community celebrations to farmers markets and theater partnerships, we've traveled all across King County, talking to hundreds of people along the way. Read on to learn more about Growing for Good's spring 2026 highlights:

On February 23, 2026, Harvest Against Hunger (HAH) hosted the third annual Grower Roundtable in collaboration with Growing for Good (GFG). This year's event was generously hosted by Royal Room in Columbia City, with 38 hunger relief staff and 20 farmers in attendance.

The conference-style gathering brought together farmers, hunger relief staff, and food systems professionals primarily from two of HAH's Farm to Community programs, King County Farmers Share and GFG. The Roundtable helps shape future Farm to Community programming while creating space for farmers and hunger relief organizations (HROs) to build relationships before the growing season begins.

The Good Food Connections conference was held on March 9th in Seattle by Good Business Network of Washington. Growing for Good sponsored the event by hosting a Conversation Corner, a quiet space for attendees to gather and decompress throughout the day.

GFG also provided 5 ticket stipends to participants in our program. We believe gatherings like these provide valuable business opportunities and allow farmers to have a voice in shaping our food system.

"As a new-ish, small-scale, organic, diversified veg and flower farmer, meetings like these are really important to get the lay of the landscape in terms of food justice in King County... Thank you for helping people like me have a seat at the table, now and in the future." - GFG Farmer

Seattle Children's Theater

Growing for Good was thrilled for the unique opportunity to collaborate with Seattle Children's Theater during their spring showing of Robin Hood. The GFG team worked with the Children's Theater to create informational materials about hunger relief for the lobby display.

We also tabled with GFG materials and arts and crafts for families attending the show on April 11th. Kids got creative making paper hats while learning about local farms and food access. Community partnerships like this help us share how farms play a vital role in hunger relief.

We hoped that scheduling a Vashon Island visit in mid-March would result in a sunny spring day, but we were surprised by a snowstorm! It was lots of fun to visit Provo Farms and Matsuda Farm to learn more about their operations and land stewardship. We were also thrilled to attend the grand opening of Vashon Food Bank and see their beautiful new facilities.

The GFG team met with food system pioneer Mark Musick and several farmers for lunch at Vashon Cohousing to discuss current needs and future collaboration. We ended the day at Nashi Orchards Tasting Room, which graciously opened its doors for the crew to warm up. Vashon Island's food system reflects the opportunities and challenges facing communities across Washington, and hearing from locals helps us better support our partners.

Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Markets

As one of the three organizations that coordinate Growing for Good, Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Markets is our most frequented tabling destination!

If you happen by our table, you'll have the chance to play food systems trivia, win some Farm Bucks, collect free stickers and buttons, and chat with us about the program.

Stay tuned on our Instagram to hear about our next tabling date!

PCC Community Markets: Earth Day & Redmond

Tabling at PCC Community Markets is a special opportunity to directly thank members who round up to support Growing for Good. It's rewarding to show members how their small contributions add up!

This spring, we attended PCC Ballard's Earth Day event and PCC Redmond's 20th Anniversary celebration.

CCMA Co-op Conference

On May 29th, the GFG team traveled to Tacoma to present at the Consumer Cooperative Management Association's annual conference. With an audience of leaders from food co-ops nationwide, the presentation included lively discussions about what partnerships between non-profits and farms could look like within their own communities. In GFG tradition, we brought fresh berries and peas grown by GFG farmers to share with our audience.

We left feeling inspired by the creative ways co-ops and their members support their communities across the country.

A big thank you to everyone who welcomed us into their spaces this spring! We look forward to more opportunities to engage with the community about the importance of local farms in hunger relief.
