At the end of February, Ms. Derocher’s first grade students did very important work to help nourish their fellow students.  Each pair of hands, equipped with small scissors, carefully harvested eight different types of tiny leaves (microgreens), including arugula, mizuna, kale, radish, tatsoi, collards and broccoli to enjoy in the school lunch salad.  First grade planted the microgreen seeds just before winter break at the Flower Basket and the tiny plants were ready to harvest only two weeks later! The students had the amazing experience of participating in the complete process from seed to salad bowl.
